About the Exhibition✨

“Even when you cannot meet, simply believing that an invisible thread connects you to someone you love can bring happiness. No matter how long that thread may be, it can keep hope alive in your heart.” ——Keigo Higashino, Thread of Hope

Inspired by Keigo Higashino’s A Thread of Hope, this exhibition explores the fragility and impermanence of life. We all begin as a “point”; through tangible “lines”, we reach towards the “threads” of feeling deep within us.

Building on “Safeguarding Hope: An Art Therapy Programme” and “Life as a Journey” Life and Death Education Workshop, this exhibition brings together heartfelt creations by more than 100 people of different ages and backgrounds, alongside works by tutors and professional art therapists. Spanning papermaking, ceramics, sculpture, painting and photography, the works trace a journey of looking back, making sense of life’s experiences and beginning anew. Each piece carries its own thoughts and stories, transforming feelings that are difficult to express into lasting imprints of life—and threads of hope.

The exhibition unfolds across five chapters:

  • Review:  Retracing the paths of our life's journey.
  • Meaning: Rediscovering the value and meaning of life through different views.
  • Reborn: Finding the strength to heal and begin anew.
  • Blessing: Weaving hope and connecting with others through collective art.
  • Carpe Diem:  Embracing the present moment to create a restful space for body and mind.

Life Map

Life is rarely a straight and smooth path; it is filled with ups and downs, hellos and goodbyes. Yet, it is the scenery of every single step that weaves together our unique life journey. Step into The Map of Life, where we warmly invite you on an immersive journey of inner exploration.

Through five distinct life chapters—Review, Meaning, Reborn, Blessing, and Carpe Diem—take a quiet moment to embrace the impermanence and preciousness of life.

As you move along the path, you will collect five thematic stamps. More than just a mark of completing the journey, this is a gentle process of self-reflection and redefining what makes life truly valuable.

Tree of Hope

There are always words in life waiting to be heard and gently placed. At "Tree of Hope", we invite you to reflect on the "Five Expressions of Life"—Gratitude, Love, Apology, Forgiveness, and Farewell. Select a corresponding colored ribbon to write down a message for someone special or for yourself. Tying your ribbon to the branch is more than just a release of emotion; it is a way to turn wishes into blessings, joining others in growing a vibrant tree of hope and strength.

Make a Wish

Every moment of exploration and reflection prepares us for the road ahead. As your exhibition journey comes to a close, you will make your own "Wish"—packing today’s insights into your luggage as you embark on a new milestone in life.

Here, we warmly invite you to draw a mystery box, which holds a luggage strap and a life question dedicated to your future. Guided by your heart’s answer, select four patches that resonate with you most, and let our staff press them onto your strap. May this one-of-a-kind luggage tag accompany you on your next life journey, serving as the warmest keepsake as you chase your dreams and cherish the present.

Special Highlights✨

Beyond the deep self-reflection of the exhibition journey, we have curated a special series of public programs. We warmly invite you to immerse yourself in the creative process—exploring the exhibition themes from fresh perspectives through hands-on art experiences and interactive performances.

Workshop: Glowing Clay Orbs

Experience the traditional Japanese craft of Hikaru Dorodango (Glowing Clay Orbs) and discover the creative process behind one of our featured artworks.

This workshop offers a dynamic mindfulness practice. Through a continuous, hands-on dialogue with the earth, you will focus on each molding gesture and observe the clay's transformation, naturally awakening your inner awareness. Much like rebuilding life after vulnerability, grounding your scattered thoughts in the clay is a gentle act of self-care—and a beautiful preparation for a new beginning.

About the Instructor | Casric Yip is a ceramic artist, mindfulness instructor, and founder of the local studio "Doma". Dedicated to exploring the social connections and functional practices of ceramic art, he holds a BA in Fine Art (Ceramics) from RMIT University (2016) and has extensive experience teaching ceramics across various schools and NGOs.

Workshop: Neon Craft

Add a touch of warm glow to your life's journey. This workshop uses neon craft to echo the exhibition's central theme of "threads. "Guided by the instructor, participants will use specially designed EL wire (electroluminescent wire) to shape their very own "HOPE" neon sign. More than just an experience of traditional Hong Kong aesthetics, this relaxing and healing process allows you to visualize your inner thoughts and light up your personal "thread of hope." No artistic background is required—just bring an open heart ready for a fresh start.

About the Instructor | Polly Chan is a freelance artist and a graduate of the Academy of Visual Arts, HKBU. Driven by her love for local culture, she founded "Neonlitehk" in 2017—Hong Kong's first handmade neon craft brand. Dedicated to integrating traditional neon art into modern lifestyle designs, Polly reimagines the charm of classic Hong Kong neon, hoping to bring vibrant colors to people's living spaces and inner worlds.
